News: Primary Final Examinations 2011 Analysis

We wish to acknowledge last years (2011) candidates for their great efforts that made the entire school community proud of their efforts. They registered the best K.C.P.E results in the school’s short history. The schools mean grade improved from 255.15 in the previous year to 264.77.The best candidate garnered 370 marks with eleven students achieving a score over 300. The overall improvement in many of the students also needs to be commended. The students received merit certificates from the school at the 2012 opening Mass on 18 January.
The staff believes that the good performance can be attributed to the hard work of not only the students but also through the collaboration between the parents and teachers. The support from the administration and of course the many sponsors was invaluable. Nearly 70% our candidates scored over the national average mark. This was commendable given the fact that most of our students come from humble backgrounds. The results have motivated the current candidates and the staff hope the results will continue to improve. We wish to express our best wishes to these candidates in their future endeavours and pray that they will grow up to be productive citizens in society. Eva Njagi,Head Teacher (Primary)
From the Debating Club...
Interpersonal skills are gained when individuals can express themselves confidently to their colleagues. The debate club provides this platform weekly when on Friday afternoons; students are given topics to argue for and against. This has transformed many of the students who could initially were fearful to address a group, but over the course of the year, confidence in publicly speaking in both English and Kiswahili has grown. We are encouraging other students who have not been active during debate sessions to “pull up your socks” and realise that this is for your own good as in life we now know that you need different skills to succeed. These days one way to prove yourself is through the spoken word, especially in interview and conversation situations. So next year we plan a bigger and better Debate Club, and we invite ALL to join!
The Club wishes the entire BBCEC fraternity a Merry Christmas and a happy and blessed year 2012.

From the Science Department...
Early in Term 3 2011, the candidate class was assisted in their exam preparations through special session on how to tackle chemistry practicals. Thanks to the administration for facilitating the event. We believe our school will perform better in Chemistry this year as a result. We also appreciated the tree planting session sponsored by Barclays Bank. We planted over 140 trees of different species such as Croton megalocarpus,Ficus spp,Dracaena spp,Araucaria spp,Bombax spp,Spathodia spp,Jacaranda spp Hibiscus spp among others
. These plants will provide shade for students in the years to come as well as helping improve the local climate. The trees will also be useful as sources of specimens for teaching biology lessons. The launching of a tree nursery by Barclays was a great encouragement to our students especially members of the environmental club, We are also grateful to Barclays Bank ‘Madd program group for the text books, revision books and reference books they donated to the school.
